Career Shadowing
See careers in pediatric therapy in action.
Career shadowing gives you the opportunity to observe Schreiber therapists as they work with children and families and learn more about occupational, physical, and speech therapy in a real-world setting.
Shadowing is open to anyone interested in learning more about careers in pediatric therapy. For high school students, scheduling priority is given to juniors and seniors.

Career Exploration
See what pediatric therapy looks like day to day and explore whether a career in OT, PT, or speech-language pathology might be right for you.
Professional Insight
Observe how therapists communicate, problem-solve, collaborate, and adapt their approach to each child.
A Real-World Perspective
Experience pediatric therapy beyond the classroom and gain a better understanding of working with children and families.
Shadowing Requirements
Because shadow students observe services involving children and teens, required Pennsylvania clearances must be submitted before participating.
Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Certification
Free for volunteers
Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Record Check
Free for volunteers
If you already have these clearances and they are valid within the last 60 months, we will gladly accept those documents. Please be prepared to upload them at the end of the online application.
Service Learning Opportunities
Put what you’re learning into practice while making a meaningful contribution at Schreiber.
Service learning goes beyond completing volunteer hours. Participants contribute meaningful service while connecting their experience to what they’re learning about disability inclusion, child development, healthcare, education, nonprofit work, or community needs.
Opportunities depend on Schreiber’s current needs and can be shaped around a student’s interests or service-learning requirements.
Respite Nights
Help give Schreiber families a well-deserved night off. You’ll lead games, crafts, and fun activities for kids in a safe, inclusive environment. Held six times per year (three in fall and three in spring) on select Friday evenings, 5:30–8:00 PM.
Special Events
Support community events and fundraisers through setup, activities, and guest support while gaining experience in teamwork, communication, event planning, and nonprofit work.
Program-Based Projects
Put your interests and skills to work through projects supporting programs such as Camp Schreiber, Club 625, or Schreiber Sibs. Projects may focus on disability inclusion, adaptive recreation, social connection, or other areas based on current program needs.
Scout Projects
Turn your Eagle Scout or Girl Scout Gold Award project into something that supports Schreiber kiddos for years to come by creating tools or resources that meet a current need at the Center.
