Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center Offers Recreation Programs for ALL Children

(Lancaster, PA) – Schreiber Pediatric offers year-round recreational programs that are open to all children in the community. These programs integrate typically developed children and children with special needs, ages 3 to 21, in a non-competitive environment. This is a great opportunity to learn through play, and what better way to play than with your friends! Our Winter/Spring Rec. Program brochure is now available. Programs for Infants, Toddlers & Preschoolers
TOPSoccer
TOPSoccer is part of a national adaptive soccer training program. The program is specifically designed for young athletes with special needs and it emphasizes development, training and meaningful participation in a non-competitive atmosphere.

Kids in Motion
Kids in Motion offers children an opportunity to express themselves through dance. The program offers a variety of ballet and tap moves, and helps dance students improve flexibility and gain muscle strength and coordination.

Programs for School Age Children

Get Fit With the Nintendo Wii
Play tennis, bowling and get your heart racing with boxing. Call early as space is limited for this fun activity.

Bumper Bowling
Our bowling program is designed for young people of all abilities. It’s an opportunity to socialize and develop new friendships.

Social Skills
Social Skills serves young people who have developmental or medically caused delays. Participants learn to incorporate age appropriate interpersonal, communication, problem solving and anger management skills into their daily routines. The program offers clients an opportunity to develop trust in others, while increasing self-esteem through social skills outings.

The Teen Scene
The Teen Scene program offers teens and young adults ages 13 to 21 an opportunity for a night out on the town at least once a month. Teens can choose activities ranging from attending local basketball games to late night bowling. Sign up early as space is limited for each activity.

Lunch and Winter Flower Arrangements
Join your Schreiber Pediatric friends for lunch at Ruby Tuesday’s and a tour of Royer’s Flower Shop distribution center in Lebanon. * Finish the day by making a lovely winter flower arrangement for someone you love.

Come out to cheer on the Millersville Marauders as they take on the East Strasburg Warriors!

Needed: Easter Egg Hunt Helpers
Stuff pastel Easter eggs in preparation for the Schreiber Pediatric Annual Easter Egg Hunt! Pizza will be served for dinner.

Bowling and Pizza Party
Teen Scene Bowling offers adolescents one full hour of unlimited bowling and a pizza party social!

Community Night
Join Schreiber’s Teen Scene staff and friends in giving back to the community. Help us serve dinner at Grace Lutheran Church and then enjoy a slice at the local pizza shop across the street. Please bring along a canned food item to donate to the church food bank.

Programs for ALL Ages
Respite Care
The Respite Care program provides parents with an opportunity for a break in the ongoing care of their child with special needs. The program is available for children with disabilities and their siblings.

Arthritis Foundation Juvenile Arthritis Aquatic Program
This program combines the buoyancy of water with the soothing warmth of a heated pool creating a safe and ideal environment for reducing arthritis discomfort and stiffness and increasing muscle relaxation and strength. Taught by Jen Creason, Physical Therapist, Arthritis Foundation Certified Instructor.

Parent Support Group
Caring for a child with special needs can be challenging, exhausting and sometimes lonely. Schreiber Pediatric’s Parent Support Group meets monthly, offering parents a chance to connect and network with one another, hear speakers from various community agencies, find support, and learn new ways to cope with everyday challenges.

American Red Cross Swimming Lessons
Sign up your child for half hour private swimming lessons with a certified Water
Safety Instructor. The 6-week Learn-to-Swim program is offered for ages 2 to 21 years.

Schreiber Pediatric’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt
Meet the Easter bunny and fill your basket with lots of colorful eggs!

Recreational Swim
Recreational swim for children with special needs is a new opportunity for children with special needs to enjoy Schreiber’s therapeutic pool. Each child will need to have a parent with them in the pool. Staff will be available to offer ideas related to therapy goals and/or progress swimming skills, but this is a time for parents to enjoy working with their children.

Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center is a nationally recognized not-for-profit organization that provides physical, occupational and speech-language therapies, as well as educational and recreational programs for nearly 4,000 children in Lancaster County living with congenital and acquired disabilities and developmental delays.
