2nd Annual ‘Music from the Heart’ Concert Raises Nearly $2,000 for Schreiber Pediatric

(Lancaster, PA) – In 2010 Music from the Heart, a benefit concert for Schreiber Pediatric, raised nearly $1,700 for the outpatient rehabilitation center. Astonished by its success, organizer’s Kim Shank and Jason Rieker decided to make it an annual event. On Saturday evening, January 22, 2011, over one-hundred people from the local community gathered at Faith United Church of Christ, Lancaster, to hear a variety of local musicians and again support Schreiber and its therapeutic services for children with special needs. This year’s event has currently raised $1,943 and donations continue to pour in.

What began as one mother’s effort to give back to an organization that helps support her five-year-old daughter, Abbrielle, who has been coming to Schreiber Pediatric for four years as part of her treatment for Autism, has turned into a wonderful evening of celebration and friendship. Schreiber Pediatric is grateful to the Rieker Family, the Shank Family, the evening’s musicians and vocalists, as well as all the other contributors who made the evening so special.

Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center is a nationally recognized not-for-profit organization that provides physical, occupational and speech-language therapy, as well as educational and recreational programs for nearly 4,000 children in Lancaster County living with congenital and acquired disabilities and developmental delays.
