Schreiber postpones Gala

Friend of Schreiber,

Gov. Tom Wolf in an update on the coronavirus March 12 encouraged state residents to cancel all gatherings expected to bring together 250 people or more.

As a result, Schreiber will postpone our Gala, which was to be held Saturday, March 21.

This was a difficult decision for us to make.

This year would have been our 38th Annual Schreiber Gala, and thanks to a lot of generous supporters it is the largest single fundraiser we do each year, bringing in more than $150,000 in revenue. We have already raised a lot of that money this year through sponsorships and ticket sales. But a significant amount comes in the night of the event, through our live and silent auctions. That's going away now.

It was a difficult decision, but it is the right one.

Because of coronavirus, there are public health risks of large gatherings. Given the work we do and the children we serve, we are used to putting the health and well being of the community first.

But we need your help now.

We rely on fundraising events like the Gala to provide revenue we need to maintain our daily operations. Without this Gala revenue, our bottom line will be hurt, there's no doubt about that. While we hope to find a new date to reschedule the event, nothing is certain at this point.

So here's what you can do. Please watch this new video we put together about the family of Nick and Andrea Grasso. They served as a Schreiber Ambassador family in 2018, and they are always willing to tell their story for the benefit of Schreiber. They have an amazing family history, and Lancaster videographer Garrity Powers does a fantastic job telling it.

We were planning to introduce it at Gala. Instead, we will present to you now. And we ask you also to consider a gift. Donate to honor a friend or family members whose child received services. Donate to celebrate a Schreiber therapist. Donate at whatever level you are comfortable.

Go here to make your donation.

Schreiber means so much to so many families, and we truly cannot do what we do without your support. Know that whatever you are able to give will help a child say their first words, take their first steps or write their own name.

So please take three minutes to watch the video. And then give.

Thank you.
