I Hear It! The Importance of Good Hearing

Dorlas Riley earned her master's degree in Language Pathology and has worked with children with hearing loss for many years. She currently resides in York County and has been working at Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center over 13 years, most recently as the head of the Speech-Pathology Department. Her favorite part of working with kids is when a child points to his or her ear and realizes, "I hear it!"

Appropriately enough, the presentation she has prepared is titled "I Hear It! - the importance of good hearing." The points she covers in the presentation include:

  • How we hear
  • The impact of speech language
  • Different kinds of reading problems
  • Strategies for learning to communicate and how to improve communication

This interactive presentation can last between fifteen minutes to an hour depending on the request and may need computer access and/or a DVD player.
