Pirates, Princesses and Superheroes! Oh My!June 29, 2010
Purchase a single Duck ($5), Quack Pack (3 for $10), Lucky Duckie (7 for $25), Daffy Dozen (12 for $50) or entire Flock (25 for $100) and become part of the 25,000 rubber duckies that will swim down the Conestoga River in support of children with special needs receiving treatment at Schreiber Pediatric. Ducks are on sale now at the Center, local Susquehanna Bank branches and online at www.schreiberpediatric.org/ducks. For each purchase, supporters of the event receive a souvenir rubber duckie, dressed as a character from this year’s Dress Up Duckie theme. Souvenir ducks include pirates, princesses, cowboys, superheroes and astronauts.
Duck supporters and racers are encouraged to then join the family fun on July 25th as the ducks take to the water! The Rubber Duckie Raceâ„¢ & Festival includes carnival games, pony rides, inflatables, face painting, BINGO, food vendors and more! The festival kicks-off at 2 p.m. with the Ducky Dinghy Derby emceed by WJTL’s Fred McNaughton and the race starts at 5 p.m. with WGAL’s Joe Calhoun and Dennis and Michelle from 101 The Rose Morning Breakfast Club.
The first three ducks to cross the finish line will win one of three grand prizes valued at $1,000 each: a Visa Gift Card, courtesy of Susquehanna Bank PA, a $1,000 Wolf Furniture Gift Certificate, courtesy of Wolf Furniture and a $1,000 Basket of Goodies and Gift Certificates, courtesy of Rockvale Outlets Lancaster. Other prizes for the top ten include a Fine Dining Package, a Pampering Package, a Home Improvement Package, Breakfast for a Year, tickets to local attractions like Hersheypark and Rainbow Theatre and much more! Ducks who place eleventh through fifty will each receive an official Rubber Duckie Raceâ„¢ T-shirt and ice cream coupon to Bruster’s Ice Cream, and the last duck to cross the finish line will receive a jar of molasses!
