Tickets on sale now for Schreiber’s28th Annual Rubber Duckie Raceâ„¢

August 5, 2016

Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center presents its 28th Annual Rubber Duckie RaceTM and Festival Sunday, Sept. 11, in Lancaster County Central Park. Schreiber’s signature fundraising event, part of a yearlong celebration of Schreiber’s 80th anniversary, will again feature up to 25,000 racing ducks bobbing and floating down the Conestoga River.

Schreiber supporters can purchase tickets for the traditional Schreiber Duckie race, and each ticket corresponds to one of 20,000 yellow ducks in the water. The first 50 ducks across the finish line win prizes for people holding those tickets.

Ducks are on sale now at the Center and online at www.schreiberpediatric.org/ducks. They will also be available at BB&T branches, Root’s Country Market (every Tuesday) and other locations around Lancaster County. Check the Duckie web page for the latest list of sales locations. For each ticket purchase, supporters receive a souvenir Duckie, and this year’s theme of Spirit of Serving includes ducks dressed as firefighters, police officers and doctors.

There’s new pricing for this year’s tickets:

  • 1 duck is $5
  • A Quack Pack of 3 ducks is $10 (GOOD VALUE)
  • A Family Pack of 10 ducks is $30 (BETTER VALUE)
  • A Flock of 35 ducks is $100 (BEST VALUE)
Also, there’s a second race-within-a-race this year featuring up to 5,000 blue ducks, and ticket buyers have a chance to win one of the 10 higher-value prizes and receive one of this year’s limited edition Big 8-0 Birthday souvenir ducks. Tickets for this race are $20 each.

The Rubber Duckie Raceâ„¢ and Festival again fall on the second day of the DuckiePalooza Weekend. The weekend kicks off Saturday, Sept. 10, with the fifth Schreiberpalooza music festival, this year moving to Clair Brothers’ new demonstration facility in Manheim. The new venue means a bigger, better event, with more music and more bands, headed by past Palooza favorites the Mama Tried Band and Good2Go, and the fun will last until 11 p.m. Other bands set to appear are Pocketful O’Soul and Killin’ the Blues. Tickets for Schreiberpalooza went on sale Aug. 1.

Duck supporters and racers are encouraged to then join the family fun on Sept. 11 as the ducks take to the water! The Rubber Duckie Raceâ„¢ & Festival includes carnival games, pony rides, inflatables, face painting, crafts, food vendors and more! The festival kicks-off at 2 p.m. and the race starts at 5 p.m. The ticketholder with the first yellow duck across the finish line will win a $1,000 Visa gift card courtesy of BB&T Bank. The ticketholder who wins among the blue ducks will take home a fantastic Weber grill.

This year’s event is title sponsored by Aetna, Donegal Mutual Insurance Group and BB&T Bank, with additional media sponsorship from WGAL Channel 8, WLAN (FM97), Clipper Magazine, LNP and WITF-TV. A special thanks to Lancaster County Parks and Recreation for hosting the event at County Park.

All proceeds from the 28th Annual Rubber Duckie Raceâ„¢ and Festival and Schreiberpalooza benefit the therapies and programs of the Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center. Please join us for a quacktacular time!
