Schreiber Pediatric offers Baby Sign Classes

— Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center offers baby sign classes under the direction of Dorlas Riley, a speech-language pathologist who has extensive experience in pediatric communication development, including using sign language with hearing and hearing-impaired children. The three-week classes will be held Wednesday evenings, and the next sessions will begin Oct.14 at Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center, 625 Community Way, Lancaster.
Baby signing offers a range of benefits for babies, from stimulating language development and decreasing a baby’s frustration to giving a baby the means to share her thoughts and start a conversation before she can speak. Parents benefit, too; signing allows caregivers to understand a baby before he can speak and engages the entire family. Classes are for parents and their children ages six months to two years developmentally.
Riley is certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association. Classes will run from 6 to 7 p.m. and will cost $40.
