Schreiber introduces ‘I Love Schreiber’ essay contest
April 14, 2016Starting in April, Schreiber Pediatric will accept entries for its “I Love Schreiber” 80th anniversary essay contest. Schreiber is inviting individuals from across central Pennsylvania and beyond to submit an essay that talks about why they are passionate about Schreiber. Eligible individuals include parents past and present, children who received services here, volunteers and donors past and present, and folks who knew or worked with Edna Schreiber.
Schreiber wants to hear from anyone who had contact with the Center through the years to answer this question:
Why is Schreiber important to you?
CONTEST DATES
The contest will run from 12:01 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2016, to 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016.
ELIGIBILITY
The contest is open to individuals 12 and older who would be qualified to enter in one of the four categories listed. Current staff and their families are not eligible. The four categories are:
- Current or former parent
- Receiving services now or past recipient of services
- Current or former volunteer or donor
- Knew, worked with or received services from Edna Schreiber
CONTEST QUESTIONS
In an essay with no more than 600 words, please respond to the following questions:
- Question 1: What was your connection to Schreiber? Describe briefly how you were connected and the approximate time period.
- Question 2: What was the best part of your time with Schreiber and why?
- Question 3: What impact did Schreiber have on your life?
- Question 4: Why should the community support Schreiber today?
HOW TO ENTER
Submit an essay of up to 600 words that responds to the four contest questions, along with a photograph of yourself that illustrates your connection to Schreiber. Your completed contest form must include your name, street address, city and state, phone number, email and category. Submitted photos should be JPG or JPEG format and should be 50 MB or smaller. One entry per person is allowed. For winning entries, only category, contestant name and city of residence will be published.
There are two ways to enter:
- Submit your essay using this online form, and then email your photo to Dan Fink at dfink@schreiberpediatric.org.
- Pick up a form at the Center’s front desk.
Then fill it out and drop it off with your completed essay, or mail it in with your photo to:

CONTEST JUDGING
Entries will be judged by the staff of Schreiber Pediatric. Entries will be judged on how effectively the responses convey your passion for Schreiber and our mission. Entries that do not specifically answer all four contest questions may be disqualified from the contest. Deadline to enter is May 31, 2016. Judging will take place June 1-15, and winners will be announced at our 80th Anniversary Open House Saturday, June 25, at Schreiber.

Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that provides physical, occupational and speech-language therapy, as well as educational and recreational programs for thousands of children in central Pennsylvania living with congenital and acquired disabilities and developmental delays. Schreiber also provides services for typically developing children, including a PA Stars 4 Star day care center for children ages 12 months to 5 years.
