NEW Outdoor Play Space at Schreiber Pediatric Allows Children of ALL Abilities to Play Together

(LANCASTER, Pa.) — Schreiber Pediatric recently created a new outdoor solid surface play area thanks to some very generous businesses in the community. A grand opening and thank you reception is planned for Tuesday, May 13th at 4:00 p.m. at Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center, 625 Community Way, Lancaster.

The renovation has enhanced the daycare program’s toddler play space – a structural area that keeps them both safe and enjoying some fresh air all-year round. Previously, there was no outdoor space to accommodate the younger daycare children who were learning to crawl or just beginning to walk. Now, children of all abilities, including those using walkers, wheelchairs, and crutches, can enjoy outdoor activities together.

This project was made possible through the support of ECORE International, a locally-based recycled flooring company, who donated Playguard tiles http://www.ecoreintl.com/playguard.php, as well as other project necessities and labor totaling over $5,000. In addition, BR Kreider excavated the space, Pennsy Supply graciously donated the compact stone necessary to create a solid base, and volunteers from Simeral Construction, Crossgates Golf Course and students from Catholic High provided the labor.

The grand opening and thank you reception will take place on Tuesday, May 13th at 4:00 p.m. at Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center. The event will include a ribbon cutting, a short song performance by the children benefiting from the donation, light refreshments and more.

Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center is a local non-profit serving children with disabilities and developmental delays across Central Pennsylvania. For more information, please visit www.schreiberpediatric.org.
