High School Student Dreams On with Another Dance Benefit for Schreiber Pediatric

(Lancaster, PA) – Lauren O’Grady, founder of Encore Community Humanitarian Outreach (ECHO), is returning to the Manheim Township High School auditorium stage on Saturday, January 29 at 7:00 p.m. with Dream On, a follow-up to her successful Down Syndrome Awareness Show titled Dream in 2010. The variety show will feature close to forty dancers and a vocalist and be intermitted with informational pieces on Down Syndrome, in honor of Lauren’s ten-year-old friend and fellow Encore Dance Studio dancer, Ashlyn Shaeffer, who was born with the genetic condition. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center, a local non-profit where Shaeffer receives therapy treatment.

To inspire the members of club ECHO, O’Grady and her fellow dancers spent a day at Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center getting to know some of the children with special needs that their event will be benefitting. The troupe volunteered in the preschool classroom and led the students through a variety of dance movements.

“I created Dream On because of the tremendous response and feedback of the community last year,” said O’Grady. The 2010 event, Dream, raised an astonishing $5,000 and fellow Manheim Township students and Encore Dance Studio dancers immediately wanted to know what O’Grady was planning for 2011. “The enthusiasm and dedication of others made it impossible not to do it again,” she concluded. The show promises to be another great success.
