Baby Sign classes
Baby Sign classes are a new resource available from Schreiber Pediatric. Classes are for parents and hearing babies and toddlers ages 6 months to 2 years. One session lasts three weeks, and classes are held at Schreiber.
Learn the how, where, when and why of introducing baby signs to hearing infants and toddlers. Learning to sign stimulates language development, decreases a baby's frustration and crying, and gives a baby the means to share her thoughts and start a conversation before she can speak.
For parents, signing allows caregivers to understand a baby before he speak and engages the entire family.
The classes are taught by Dorlas Riley, a speech-language pathologist who has extensive experience in pediatric communication development, including using sign language with hearing and hearing-impaired children. She is certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
The next class starts Wednesday, Sept. 7, with additional sessions on Sept. 14 and Sept. 28, all running from 6-7 p.m. The cost is $40. Use the form below to register online.
